King Charles was surprised to see Sir Idris Elba during his Caribbean tour.

The 77-year-old monarch visited Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua on Monday to unveil an engraved stone. While there, he bumped into the 54-year-old actor, who was attending the One Commonwealth Night concert in his role as a goodwill ambassador for The King’s Trust.

The Independent reported that after the pair shook hands, Elba asked: “How are you?”

The king replied: “What are you doing here?”

Elba quipped: “I get around,” while giving the royal a friendly pat on the arm.

The Hijack star also asked the king if he was having a good time in Antigua.

INDEPENDENCE

Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne, 59, has backed calls for the country to become a republic.

Antigua and Barbuda gained independence from Britain in November 1981 and has remained a member of the Commonwealth. King Charles serves as the country’s head of state.

King Charles knighted Elba, whose Elba Hope Foundation supports youth advocacy, during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle in June.

“I receive this honour on behalf of the many young people whose talent, ambition and resilience has driven the work of the Elba Hope Foundation,” Elba said at the time.

“I hope we can do more to draw attention to the importance of sustained, practical support for young people and to the responsibility we all share to help them find an alternative to violence.”

On the second day of the Caribbean tour, King Charles showed off his dance moves in The Bahamas.

He took part in a Jonkunnu and took the opportunity to join dancers with a pair of maracas decorated in the colours of the Bahamian flag.

The king, dressed in a suit and sunglasses, was cheered by the crowd as he joined in with the party spirit last Wednesday.

The monarch left The Bahamas on Thursday. He was later joined by his 79-year-old wife, Queen Camilla, in Antigua and Barbuda for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
