Member of Parliament for South East St Andrew, Maxine Henry-Wilson, is questioning the current role of Joan Gordon Webley in the constituency. Mrs. Gordon-Webley represented the Jamaica Labour Party in the constituency during the last general election but lost to the PNP.

The constituency leadership wants to know whether Mrs. Gordon -Webley who was recently appointed as the Executive Director at the National Solid Waste Management Authority, NSWMA is also serving as the JLP caretaker.

In a letter addressed to Mr. Golding and signed by Mrs. Henry-Wilson, questions were raised about the basis for the concentration of activities by Mrs. Gordon-Webley in the constituency. The letter also pointed to an event in the Swallowfield community where Mrs. Gordon-Webley reportedly used a vehicle from the NSWMA to distribute gifts.

The PNP leadership has also raised the matter of a possible conflict of interest with Mrs. Gordon-Webley’s involvement in the constituency and her role at the NSWMA.
