Member states of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), have agreed to make a decision by the end of January in response to the rising food prices.
Regional heads of government have been putting a number of measures in place to reduce the prices.
Secretary General of CARICOM, Dr. Edwin Carrington, said individual countries would have to deal with the problem more effectively.
Dr. Carrington also said the removal or reduction of the Common External Tariff may benefit some countries and destroy the economies of others.
