BARCELONA, Spain:

It was a mixed morning session for Jamaica’s athletes on the fourth day of the 14th IAAF World Junior Championships.

Three of the five juniors who were in action advanced to the next round.

They were led by Chanice Porter, who qualified for her second final of the championships.

She cleared 1.82 metres in the high jump to book her place in Sunday’s final scheduled for 11:05 pm.

The 2011 World Youth long jump champion will, however, first focus her attention on this afternoon’s final of that event set for 12:55.

Other athletes who competed this morning:

Chrisdale McCarthy and Samantha Scarlett - both advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s 100m hurdles set for tomorrow at 11:35am.

(McCarthy placed second in heat two in a time of 13.68 seconds, while Scarlett ran a personal best of 13.62 seconds for third in heat one.)

Tara Sue Barnett - threw a modest 42.06m in the qualifying round of the women’s discus, hence failing to make the final.
