Jamaica advances at Scripps Spelling Bee

The Gleaner's Children’s Own Spelling Bee Champion Gifton Wright has further advanced at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington DC.
Wright advanced after correctly spelling the word o-m-b-r-o-p-h-o-b-e in round three.
An ombrophobe is a plant that cannot withstand much rain.
The oral rounds of the spellathon began today with the semi-finals and finals scheduled for tomorrow.
Some 278 spellers are competing for the championship.
