The husband and wife team of Omar Brown and Veronica Campbell-Brown slammed their field in the 200 metres to be the leading lights for the Caribbean in the invitational event at the weekend at the Kansas Relays in the USA.

Campbell-Brown, the classy Jamaica sprint queen, established a new meet record with a time of 22.32 seconds at the Hershberger Track in Memorial Stadium.

Campbell-Brown had a quick start, ran a smooth curve, and finished strongly to erase the previous mark of 22.59 seconds which was set by patriot Aleen Bailey nine years ago.

Minutes later, Campbell-Brown saw her husband Omar clocking 20.84 seconds to win the men’s 200.

Brown edged two-time Olympian and Antigua and Barbuda 100 record-holder Brendan Christian, who finished second in 20.93.

Brown then linked up in the 4 x 400-metre with Jordan Boase, Kirkland Thornton, and Erison Hurtault to win with the International All Stars in a time of three minutes, 08.30 seconds.

Campbell-Brown, along with Alycia Williams, Tanelah Campbell, and Shareefa Lloyd running for On-Track Management finished fourth in the women’s mile relay with a time of three minutes 41.10 seconds.

The Jamaican team Sprint Tec, comprising Audra Segree, Anastasia LeRoy, Tamara Keane and Kittian Tiandra Ponteen, was second in three minutes 40.52 seconds.
