Jamaica’s Under-15 Reggae Boyz hit Sri Lanka for six, with braces from Steve Hewitt and Samari Cousins powering them to a third consecutive victory at the FIFA Under-15 World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan, yesterday.

The young Reggae Boyz dominated their Asian opponents from the outset, and it took Hewitt just six minutes to open the scoring.

Sri Lanka had barely recovered when Timothy Jones doubled Jamaica’s advantage three minutes later.

Jamaica continued to dictate play and made it 3-0 in the 16th minute through Ramesh Simms.

Cousins then got in on the act, scoring the first of his two goals in the 19th minute to put Jamaica 4-0 ahead.

Hewitt completed his brace a minute before half-time to hand the young Reggae Boyz a commanding 5-0 lead at the break.

Cousins grabbed his second goal and Jamaica’s sixth five minutes after the restart to complete another impressive performance by the young Boyz.

Jamaica opened the tournament with a 9-0 victory over the United States Virgin Islands on Saturday before edging Cuba 1-0 in the first of two matches yesterday. Hewitt scored the lone goal in that encounter.

The Jamaicans share the lead atop Group AB with Czechoslovakia on nine points, but the Europeans, who defeated Cuba 9-1, hold the advantage on goal difference.

Cuba, Togo and Sri Lanka are all on three points, while the United States Virgin Islands remain without a point at the foot of the standings.

Jamaica will face Togo and the Czech Republic today. Victory in the group would secure a place in the Round of 32 of the Tier A competition.

The group winners will advance to Tier A, second-place teams will move on to Tier B, while the third-place finishers progress to Tier C.
