Driver found murdered in MoBay
Another murder has rocked Montego Bay in St James, as the body of a truck driver was found in a section of the city early Sunday morning.
The body has been identified as that of 29-year-old Gevin James, otherwise known as 'Makka Mouth', of a Wakefield address in Trelawny.
According to Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) officer for the parish of St James, Peter Salkey, James' body was found at premises on North Street, Montego Bay, at approximately 7:05 a.m.
"The body was found ... with what appeared to be gunshot and chop wounds ... . Spent-shell casings and expended bullets were found on the crime scene," said Salkey.
Salkey said the police have not yet established a motive for the killing.
"The Montego Bay Criminal Investigation Bureau is investigating to find out what could be the cause of this murder," he added.
Suspected drowning at Duncans Bay
Twenty-eight-year-old Eric Thompson, a security officer of Clark's Town, Trelawny, is suspected to have drowned yesterday at the Duncans Bay Beach in the parish.
According to the police, Thompson and a group of people went swimming at about 10 a.m. when he got into difficulties and subsequently drowned.
When the police visited the area, Thompson's body was seen lying at a section of the beach.
The body was removed to the morgue.
Investigations continue.
Hit-and-run driver caught
A policeman is nursing multiple injuries after he was hit by a motorist whom he had signaled to stop.
The cop was carrying out spot checks on Bryants Crescent in May Pen yesterday afternoon when he signalled a vehicle to stop. The motorist disobeyed and proceeded to hit the cop and then fled the scene.
A report was made and the driver was found in Alexandria, Clarendon, late yesterday evening. Charged with disobeying police stop signal, dangerous driving, and driving away from the scene of an accident is Jeremy Hill of a Chapelton address.
The policeman was taken to hospital by his colleagues where he was treated and released.
Woman dies after allegedly ingesting poison
A woman who allegedly drank Grammazone on Saturday died yesterday at hospital.
Dead is 45-year-old Marcia Booth, a shop operator of Ludlow district in Crofts Hill, Clarendon.
Reports are that Booth had been suffering from a liver condition for some time and ingested the poisonous substance.
She was rushed to the St Ann's Bay Hospital but died the following day.
