Javine upsets

JAVINE, offering odds of 7-1 with leading jockey Omar Walker aboard, floored the odds on the howling 2-5 favourite ROCK 'A' WAY to win the 3-y-o maiden special over 1,300 metres at Caymanas Park yesterday.
With JOHN D LINJAH declared a late non-starter at the gates (lame) - reducing the field to 10 - it was ROCK 'A' WAY who made most of the running, leaving the half-mile two lengths clear of JAVINE, who chased her on the rails. But ROCK 'A' WAY began to shorten on the lead approaching the distance and although driven out by Dane Nelson, gave way to JAVINE on the rails a furlong out and also lost second to the fast-finishing ETTU ORACLE (9-2).
The winner, a bay filly by Legal Process out of Lady Madras, is owned by Colla and trained by Fitzgerald Richards.
TWO WINNERS APIECE
On a day when Nelson (Awesome Sensation, Nooklin Bridge) and Dick Cardenas (Raging Prospect, Miss May at 12-1) shared the riding honours with two winners apiece, the card produced four winning favourites.
These were AWESOME SENSATION at 3-5 in the first race, APACHE GOLD at 9-5, SEARCHING FOR GOLD at 3-2 and RAGING PROSPECT, who romped the overnight allowance race over 1820 metres as the 4-5 favourite.
