Jamaica U17s lose
LOUIS DOR, Tobago (CMC):
Barbados defeated Jamaica by six wickets in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Tobago House of Assembly Regional Under 17 Tournament, which bowled off on Monday. The Bajan bowlers restricted the Jamaican batsmen to 108 all out after they won the toss and elected to bat.
Domique Drakes, Ian Boyce and Lee Germon- Gaskin were the chief destroyers for Barbados as Jamaica plunged to 20 for four. Denniel Griffith and Shahid Crooks tried to revive the winnings with a 51-run partnership, but when they were dismissed for 28 each no other batman got into double figures. Drakes finished with three for 13, Boyce three for 29 and Gaskin picked up two wickets.
Barbados experienced some shaky moments in their run chase falling from 31 for one to 44 for four. But Nicholas Kirton and Shemar Springer ensured Barbados the victory with an unbroken 65-run partnership.
Cycling team chief assists doping probe
NICE, France (AP):
One of Lance Armstrong's former teammates who is now the director of a team riding in the Tour de France is helping anti-doping authorities build cases against other people connected to cycling.
Orica GreenEDGE chief Matt White admitted to doping when his name came up in the Armstrong scandal, having ridden with the American on the now-defunct US Postal team.
The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority said yesterday that White had provided "substantial assistance" during its investigation of cycling and that he "is helping establish violations against others." It did not elaborate.
White's assistance led to his two-year ban, which started last October, being reduced to six months, meaning it has now ended.
T&T secure two-wicket win
SHAW PARK, Tobago (CMC):
Jerron Maniram slammed an unbeaten 78 to lead Trinidad and Tobago to a tense two-wicket win over Leeward Islands in their opening match of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Tobago House of Assembly Regional Under-17 tournament Monday.
The Trinidadians stumbled in their run chase after the Leewards, who won the toss and elected to bat, were bowled out for 183 in 50 overs. However, Maniram kept T&T in the hunt for the win by helping them recover from 61 for four to reach 184 for eight off 48.3 overs.
Maniram's knock included seven fours and two sixes as he emerged the key batsman in a tight finish that allowed T&T to secure victory with two wickets in hand and nine balls remaining.

SCARBOROUGH, Tobago (CMC):
Kyle Cabey missed out on a half century, but piloted Windward Islands to a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Guyana in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Tobago House of Assembly Regional Under 17 Tournament, which bowled off on Monday.
Cabey was unbeaten on 49 as the Windwards coasted to 106 for one to successfully chase down a paltry 105 from 28.3 overs set by Guyana in one of three 50 over matches played. The Dominican cricketer was named Man-of-the-Match.
