Butt admits to spot-fixing

ISLAMABAD (AP):Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt admitted yesterday he was involved in spot-fixing three years ago and apologised.

The International Cricket Council banned Butt for 10 years - five of them suspended - after fast bowlers Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif bowled predetermined no-balls during a test against England in 2010. Asif and Amir were also banned for lengthy periods.

Butt's and Asif's appeals in the Court of Arbitration for Sport were also rejected in April while Amir had accepted he was guilty and did not appeal against his five-year ban.
