B'dos fan wins CPL mascot competition
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC):
A cricket fan from Barbados has won a competition to name the mascot for the Caribbean Premier league (CPL), which starts next month. David Ross's idea of naming the CPL mascot Bouncer has been accepted by the organisers following a social media competition.
Bouncer was selected from a shortlist of five after officials sifted through hundreds of submissions from Facebook and Twitter fans.
"The West Indies is known for bouncy wickets, and our brand of cricket and music is full of bounce," Ross said. "It is also catchy for children. Plus, if you follow the ball, it will bounce."
Ross will receive VIP tickets for the three matches being held in Barbados and a brand new Samsung Galaxy S3 mini, courtesy of CPL sponsor Digicel.
Appleton Mound after-party
KINGSTON:
The Appleton Special Jamaica Rum Mound Mania this year will bring cricket revelry to a whole new level with the addition of two extra hours of partying each day after play, featuring live performances from some of the biggest stars in reggae and dancehall.

Known for its high-energy atmosphere, cricket on the Mound is expected to bowl over spectators on Friday, June 28, when the West Indies play Sri Lanka and again on Sunday, June 30; as the Windies take on India and Tuesday, July 2, when India square off with Sri Lanka.
Tevez set for Juventus
MANCHESTER, England (AP):
A person familiar with the situation says Manchester City and Juventus have agreed to a deal that will see Carlos Tevez join the Italian champions in a transfer worth up to 12 million pounds ($18.5 million).
The person who spoke to The Associated Press yesterday on condition of anonymity, to confirm British media reports, said he was not authorised to discuss details of a deal that is yet to be completed.
The Argentina striker needs to finalise personal terms for a three-year deal and then pass a medical examination. The move could be completed this week.
