Name hospital after late Dr Barrington Dixon
THE EDITOR, Sir:
There has been much discussion and controversy pertaining to the renaming of the Cornwall Regional Hospital.
I acknowledge that Dr Herbert Eldemire, as minister of health many years ago, was instrumental in the establishment of that institution. However, he never worked at Cornwall Regional.
The late Dr Barrington Dixon was consultant obstetrician/gynaecologist, head of department and senior medical officer for more than 30 years. He devoted his entire medical life to Cornwall Regional.
As someone who had worked closely with Dr Dixon and had witnessed his dedication and commitment to the work and growth of that institution, it is my opinion that if Cornwall Regional is to be renamed, it should become known as the Barrington Dixon Memorial Hospital.
