All-white affair
And speaking of fab people places and parties, with 2011 bringing her shutters down, we remember some very special people who celebrated in style this year. To all the fine women who turned 50 and celebrated with the pizzazz and oomph befitting the occasion such as the fab Devon Oates, the Virgo's Virgo, whose classy Afrocentric outing was a very special event in New York. Then there was Donna Bell, whose all-white ritzy affair was the surprise of the season, as she, regally clad, turned her birthday into a surprise wedding to Devon Thomas in Atlanta. And then there was Dr Cherise Francis-Windle, who capped the season with the smasheroni of smasheronis, as refusing to give in to the big number, made her milestone celebration a spectacular event, and a weekend to remember in Ocho Rios.
But even though these friends of long standing closed out 2011 with a number of fab celebrations, with 2012 on the rise and a number of friends all set to celebrate their own very special milestones, the partying is set to continue with Alsia Aris-Wilkinson kicking off the year with her 'black and white affair' in Florida, come mid-January; with everyone set to be partying along as Jamaica herself marks her 50th year of independence! And former head of the European Union, Ambassador Gerd Jarchow, and his fab wife Mara Mandara Jarchow, arrive today, from their home in Brussels, for their annual Christmas holidays in the sun.
And speaking of the holiday season, dears, for many the question is still out as to just which party is on and which is not, as with national elections adding to the Yuletide hoopla, many plans are now in abeyance, leaving many in a social quandary! Not so, however, for Chris Blackwell's now-annual New Year's Eve shindig at his Golden Eye, uber-fabulous resort, in lush St Mary. This much-anticipated year ending/opening showpiece of fabulousness is all set to light up in the fab pop style and manner for which the counterculture pop icon is revered and celebrated.
And this year, security conglomateur Kenny Benjamin retreats to his country home up in the Blue Mountains, where he will celebrate with a shortlist of family and friends. No word yet on the annual Kingsley Cooper/Pulse Christmas Eve party at Villa Ronai, so more anon! Meanwhile, it's all systems go for Shaggy and Friends.
And for the party-hearty, the fab and fun-fest of the season is definitely the New Years' Eve humdinger at Hedonism II in Negril, with general manager Kevin Levee promising another sensational outing!
So there you have it, no election angst for the fab, as it's still all about closing out the season in traditional haute style!
