Just one touch is literally all it takes!

Alcatel, one of the top 10 phone manufacturers in the world, officially launched its One Touch 890 smartphone at Devon House on Tuesday. The Android phone has been popping up in Digicel (Alcatel's partner/distributor) stores since October, but it was officially unveiled to a curious public.

Tech-support agents were on hand to show guests the features of the phone including its Push Wi-Fi system that alerts you whenever you hit a Wi-Fi hotspot. You can access all the popular social-networking sites, plus all the other modern-day amenities you need to stay connected 24/7. The Alcatel One Touch 890 gives you one-button access to Gmail, YouTube and even Android Market, which enables you to download the various apps that match your personal style.

Special guests at the launch were two winners of the Alcatel Facebook promotion, Sara Turner and Li-Shan Rainford. Both were presented with two of the compact smartphones. Ibo Cooper and Friends provided great live-music entertainment for the gathering.

Alcatel is a French company, but merged with Chinese telecoms giant TCL in 2004. Now based in the city of Shenzen, Alcatel produces approximately 60 million phones a year, including the Alcatel One Touch, its standard-bearer.
