Off at a gallop

Talk about hitting the ground running. New Colombian Ambassador Luis Guillermo Martinez is wasting no time in getting to know his diplomatic colleagues as he threw a vin d'honneur (like a mini-reception) on the occasion of the presentation of his credentials to the governor general, Sir Patrick Allen.
Both events took place on Monday, June 27, and Ambassador Martinez, who was previously posted in Guyana, reiterated that he was here to work and looked forward to meeting with his colleagues in order to find out more about Jamaica and the Caribbean. He said he considered it a great honour and a privilege to represent his country and to help build relationships between countries.
Among those out to welcome him were Mexican Ambassador Leonora Rueda, Cuban Ambassador Yuri Gala Lopez and wife Yaima, Canadian High Commissioner Stephen Hallihan, Dean of the Consular Corps Arnold Foote and wife Patricia, Peter Makwarela and Enzo Barra.
