The event will be held on Thursday, June 30, at the Devon House East Lawn.

Kingston, Jamaica:

When Jamaica's first millionaire of African descent, George Stiebel, commissioned his mansion in 1881, little did he know that Jamaicans today, from every walk of life, would be enjoying this veritable oasis in the city of Kingston. The Friends of Devon House committee is dedicated to preserving this historic and welcoming heritage site and will be hosting its annual fund-raising dinner on Thursday, June 30.

Billed as 'Mid-Summer Magic Under the Stars', the event will be held on the Devon House East Lawn and will feature an elegant six-course fare, catered by leading chef and restaurateur Mario Machado.

Other features of the evening will be a fine art Dutch auction and dinner-time serenade by noted violinist, Kingsley DePass. 'Warm & Easy', featuring Wayne Armond, will also be providing music, and cocktails are being sponsored by Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum.

Devon House and its concessionaires employ approximately 40 people, and is visited by locals and tourists whose patronage supports the businesses on-site and adds to that unique 'Devon House experience' that is such a special rendezvous.

Friends of Devon House is a philanthropic committee dedicated to fund-raising for the restoration and promotion of the historic mansion. It is chaired by well-known businesswoman Gloria Palomino, with other members including Janette Stewart, Dawn Azan, Marilyn Bennett, Beverley Levy, Ardelle Dalla Costa, Jean Lowrie-Chin and Ann-Marie Wyss.

Contribution is $8,000 and tickets can be obtained from committee members, or by calling 995-6625.
