Coffee shipment will boost Jamaica's export growth
Jamaica Freight and Shipping (JFS), agents of China Shipping Container Line (CSCL), said the recent shipment of coffee to Ningbo, China, is one that will contribute to Jamaica's export growth. CSCL was the ocean carrier that handled the shipment.
"JFS and CSCL are pleased to be associated with such an important occasion and we view the partnership as a long and beneficial one," JFS said.
The Coffee Industry Board, on April 5, shipped the first container of coffee to China. It represented 25 per cent of the 70-tonne order secured from China.
"As agents, JFS pledges to continue to provide the quality service they are known for," JFS said.
The shipment was sent off with much fanfare at the Kingston Container Terminal, followed by a press briefing with Minister of Agriculture Christopher Tufton. Present to witness this historic occasion were Howard Mitchell, chairman of the Coffee Industry Board, and Christopher Gentles; director of the Coffee Industry Board, along with other representatives from the board. Also present were port officials and representatives from JFS.
