Natalie's journal - week 3 - Dealing with two sick kids

Sick me, sick kids and sleepless nights. That was this week in a nutshell. It was really hard to be up all night with two sick children and then to hit the gym. So again I ended up missingtwo days this week. Itfelt like the world was working against me. I guess that's just real life though. You always have obstacles to overcome.

I pushed myself hard in the workouts which I was able to keep this week. I was motivated by the inspirational tidbits muttered by the instructors. The best this week was in a strength-training class when the entire class was noticeably feeling the pressure and the instructor said, "Hold on, exercise isn't meant to be easy!".

That elicited moans and groans but we all refocused and gave the workout our all. Truthfully, when we dedicate an hour or so to exercise, shouldn't we challenge ourselves and our perceived boundaries, strive for excellence or settle for mediocrity?

I took my eldest daughter forice cream after school one day, just to spend some quality time with her. It took every inch of willpower not to have a lick of her cookies 'n' cream cone. When I did give in and asked for some, she said, "Mommy, remember you are trying to lose pounds." Now that is evidence that it's important to share your goals with your loved ones. Their support is necessary! Even if they are only nine years old.
