Creating your life's vision
AS WE leave 2010 behind, many of us are thinking about our goals for 2011. One of the most powerful techniques I know for achieving goals and manifesting dreams is creating a vision board.
A vision board is a poster on which you paste or collage images torn from magazines or created yourself. The idea is that when you surround yourself with images of who you want to become, what you want to have, where you want to work, who you want to be with, what you want to look like, places you want to go and the quality of life you need, you will attract the same into your life.
Ask Deika Morrison, who attended our vision board workshop at Shakti last October. On her board, she set the intention 'to do something big for kids for charity'. Books featured prominently on her vision board. A few months later, Deika created 'Race for Literacy', a collection drive for books for children.
The collection was so successful, it broke the Guinness World Record for the most books donated to charity in seven days! Are you ready to do your vision board?
Supplies you will need:
Poster board or cartridge paper.
A big stack of different types of magazines.
Glue or rubber cement which lasts longer.
Before you begin your vision board, put on some soft music and sit quietly and take a few deep breaths, relax and think about what you want to create in your life. Make sure you include all aspects such as home, health, relationships, work, travel, finances and so on.
Four simple steps
Step 1: Go through your magazines and tear out the images that mean something to you. No gluing yet! Allow yourself to just have fun making a big pile of images, sayings and words. Add any personal things like photos or mini versions of the objects you desire.
Step 2: Go through the images and begin to lay your favourites on the board leaving space in the middle for a beautiful photograph of you! You might use a theme in each corner of the board, for example, health, home, relationships, career, spirituality and so on. Let your intuition be your guide and play with it!
Step 3: Glue everything onto the board. You can also paint on it or write words. You can even write yourself a 'cheque' for how much money you want to bring into your life!
Step 4: Hang your vision board in a place where you will see it often.
Create the life you want in 2011!
