Bienvenida Ambassador Nuño!
Daviot Kelly, Staff Reporter
The majestic White Clouds, residence of the Spanish ambassador to Jamaica, is used to hosting excellent receptions. But on Wednesday, October 20, it was new Spanish Ambassador Celsa Nuño who was playing host. Ambassador Nuño, her husband Alex Crowther and their three children will be making the residence their home for the next few years.
Having presented her credentials to Governor General Sir Patrick Allen the previous week, there was one thing left to do: throw a reception to meet and greet just a few of the people with whom she will liaise during her tenure.
This wasn't a night for speeches; those will come in time. This was merely a chance for those who had not yet met the ambassador to do so before she gets going with her various projects.
Guests out included: Venezuelan Ambassador Noel Martinez; British High Commissioner Howard Drake; just-returned Canadian High Commissioner Stephen Hallihan and wife Cathy; Mexican Ambassador Leonora Rueda; German Ambassador Jurgen Engel; Chilean Ambassador Alfredo Garcia and wife Luz Santamaria; French Ambassador Marc-Olivier Gendry; Ramon and Deidre Corvera; Ambassador Elinor Sherlock; Ambassador Paul Robotham; Ricardo Allicock; Ambassador Douglas Saunders and wife Angela; Charles and Lisa Johnston; Elizabeth Shoucair, Annette Insanally, Chris and Gillian Zacca and Robert Russell.
