Congratulations to the Custos
As she continues to settle into her new role as custos of St Andrew, friends and associates continue to offer congratulations through receptions, dinners and scores of telephone calls and cards. On Friday, September 17, it was the turn of Marco Mazzocchi Alemanni, European Union ambassador and his wife, Fiela.
Discussion throughout cocktails and dinner centred around current events in politics, sports, religion and family.
Alemanni, in his congratulations, said he admired Jamaican custodes who do so much work for free, as in his country, their equivalents (prefects), are paid well for the service. He described Custos Harding as hard-working, dynamic and the best choice for the job.
In her acceptance of the accolades, Custos Harding thanked her hosts for the gesture and heaped lavish praise upon Mrs Alemanni, who had herself prepared the lavish three-course meal, blessed by Bishop Don Taylor.
Sharing the intimate gathering were: Zachary Harding; Education Minister Andrew Holness and wife Juliet; National Security Minister, Senator Dwight Nelson; custos of Kingston, Steadman Fuller, and wife Sonia; Captain (retired) Mike Lyn and wife Thalia, Chief Justice Zaila McCalla and husband Bill; Chris Issa and wife Kimberly Mais-Issa; Professor Hugh Wynter and wife Dorie; Eunice Morrison; Anthony and Jeanne Watson, Bishop Don Taylor and Audrey Chin.
