The union of love
Childhood letters expressing love were exchanged between Granville Prescott and the then Hyacinth Willoughby for years. The exchange got more frequent and lengthy when Granville left for Newcastle to be trained as a Jamaica Defence Force soldier, as both of them had lots to tell.
At times her letters were the only outgoing mail from the district of Berry Hill. Granville spent 12 years in the army during which he served in the Grenada invasion. He also went to train in England and visited the United States of America and other parts of the world. Despite all his travels, he realised that this girl's charm and character were not something he would exchange for anyone else.
So on September 8, 1984, they exchanged hearts at the Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Hampshire, St Ann, where the two were joined in marriage by the Reverend Martel Grant. It was a light and airy church hall filled with flowers, family and friends. Fruits of the union are Aceion, Monique, Keiton and Latisa.
Look at us growing young together. Look at us still clinging to each other.
