Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica Chen Jinghua is in a celebratory mood.

That's because the Shanghai Expo 2010, the latest world's fair, is getting rave reviews from across the globe. Add to that the CARICOM Pavilion Day (a special showcase for the CARICOM booth at the expo) on July 17, and it's easy to see why Ambassador Chen is in high spirits. So he hosted a reception at The Jamaica Pegasus to celebrate both events on Tuesday.

The Shanghai expo began on May 1 and will run until October 31. Ambassador Chen said the expo had already broken a few records including the widest field of participating countries, and having the most volunteers.

He beamed that it was a 'green' expo and opined that the fair would provide a valuable platform for countries looking to explore new avenues, especially since the world economy continues to recover. He also said he hoped Shanghai would break the attendance record.

Appropriately, Commerce Minister Karl Samuda and his team were on their way to the world event the next day. He reminisced on his first journey to Shanghai and expressed awe at how quickly the city and country had developed. The guests were then treated to a fine buffet of Chinese cuisine, and also had their choice of various literature and music from the eastern nation.
