Caribbean Cup champions Mount Pleasant Academy drubbed Tivoli Gardens FC 5-0 in a commanding performance during their Jamaica Premier League (JPL) game at Drax Hall Sports Complex yesterday.

In front of an energetic crowd, Mount Pleasant's Daniel Green and Warner Brown scored two goals each with Rapha Intervil getting the other goal.

Green fired his team in front in the 11th minute, and Brown doubled the winners' advantage from the penalty spot in the 27th minute. Green made it 3-0 in the 55th minute and Intervil sent his team further ahead when he netted in the 66th minute. Brown completed the scoring in the 74th minute when he bagged Mount Pleasant's fifth goal.

The result leaves Mount Pleasant sixth in the standings on 13 points, three wins, and four draws, while Tivoli are fifth on 15 points, four wins, three draws, and four defeats.

Theodore 'Tappa' Whitmore, head coach of Mount Pleasant, said the team had a solid defensive performance.

"I think we could have done better in the final third, but I am pleased with the overall performance," said Whitmore.

Tivoli were not at their best and failed to convert any of the few chances they managed to create.

Jerome Waite, coach of Tivoli Gardens, said he was disappointed with the team's performance.

"Tivoli didnt turn up to play today. However, you still have to give credit to Mount Pleasant, who had superior preparation and competitive quality today," Waite said, noting that his team had difficulties getting into the game.

League leaders Montego Bay United and Harbour View FC played to an exciting 4-4 draw in another match at the Stadium East field. Harbour View's Tyrone Harrison scored an own goal in the 37th minute to give MBU the lead, and Jourdain Fletcher hammered home in the 39th minute to give MBU a 2-0 lead before Harbour View's Rohan Brown pulled back a goal in the 43rd minute. MBU's Dwight Merrick then netted in first-half added time as his team regained their two-goal advantage.

In the 46th minute, Harbour View's Garth Stewart scored to give his team some hope, but MBU's Fletcher found the back of the net again in the 56th minute, to give MBU a 4-2 lead. However, Harbour View's Trayvone Reid scored in the 67th and 80th minutes to grab a point for the east Kingston-based club.
