Mount Pleasant strengthens community impact with donation to Mustard Seed
RUNAWAY BAY:
Mount Pleasant Football Academy (MPFA) reaffirmed its commitment to community development and social responsibility on Tuesday with a donation of groceries and toiletries to the Mustard Seed Communities’ Jacob’s Ladder facility in St Ann.
The donation, some of which were collected through the club’s recent donation drive held during the Concacaf Caribbean Cup semi-final second-leg match against Defence Force FC on November 5 at the National Stadium, will support the daily nutritional and personal-care needs of the 155 residents currently housed at Jacob’s Ladder.
In expressing their gratitude, assistant administrator of the Jacob’s Ladder community, Kadiann Drake, noted that the contribution was “well received and will go a long way in enhancing the nutrition and overall care of the residents”.
Mount Pleasant FA’s Sporting Director Paul Christie underscored the motivation behind the club’s continued outreach efforts:
“At Mount Pleasant, we believe football is more than what happens on the pitch, it’s about uplifting lives and using our platform to make a difference. The Mustard Seed Communities have been doing tremendous work, and we are proud to partner with them in supporting their mission. This, though, is only the beginning, as we will continue to have discussions on how we can make this more sustainable. We see the needs of the Mustard Seed Communities and we are fortunate to be in a position where we can help, and we will do our best to help them.”
Beyond the immediate donation, Mount Pleasant FA has committed to long-term support of the Mustard Seed Communities, pledging continuous contributions of both goods and financial assistance to the Jacob’s Ladder facility.
