Jamaica’s high hurdlers cruised through the second morning of competition at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo tonight, Jamaica time.

Danielle Williams began the defence of her 100-metre hurdles title in relaxed style and was joined in Monday’s semi-finals by compatriots Ackera Nugent and Amoi Brown.

With a composed performance, Williams, also the World Champion from Beijing in 2015, won the second of six heats in the fastest time of the round — 20.40 seconds, while Nugent also went through seemlessly, taking the tape in 12.54.

Brown, in her first major championships, had more work to do but comfortably took the third and final qualifying place in the fifth of six heats in 12.82.
