MIAMI, Florida (CMC):

Both St Vincent and the Grenadines and The Cayman Islands were handed heavy defeats by Nicaragua and Costa Rica, respectively when the Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Qualifiers continued on Saturday.

St Vincent were thrashed 5-0 by the home side at the Estadio Nacional de Fútbol in Nicaragua while Costa Rica dispatched The Cayman Islands 7-0 at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T).

Nicaragua were led by braces from Adriana Munguia and Perla Garache, with Daniela Manzanares also getting on the scoresheet.

Munguia opened the scoring in the 14th minute, and four minutes later, Garache doubled their lead to put them in the ascendancy.

Manzanares’ beautiful free kick in the 49th minute made it 3-0 before Mungia and Garache struck again in the 69th and 85th minutes to complete the rout.

Meanwhile in T&T, Keisy Taylor and Sheika Scott also scored braces in Costa Rica’s lopsided victory over The Cayman Islands.

Taylor scored in the second minute and first-half stoppage time, and Scott found the back of the net in the seventh and 30th minutes.
