THE JAMAICA Premier League (JPL) continues with another set of midweek fixtures, second-place Montego Bay United and sixth-place Waterhouse the headline of the three matches on.

In other games, Chapelton play Dunbeholden in the first game of a doubleheader at the Anthony Spaulding Complex at 4:30 p.m., while Racing take on Harbour in the second match at 7 p.m.

Waterhouse endured a tough patch when they had just one win in eight games but rebounded to win two games on the bounce before crashing back to earth with a 3-0 humbling from Chapelton at Drewsland mini-stadium on Sunday. The loss marked their third straight at home.

However, coach Marcel Gayle is hoping for a response from his team, insisting that discipline will be key.

“When you look at the stats, they are an in-form team. They are consistent, so we are not taking anything for granted. We have to be very detailed and very disciplined off the ball and in transition.

“So we are expecting a keen encounter. The guys are ready. We know what’s at stake. But discipline is going to be the key for us,” he said

He added that they remain positive and confident but that it is what they do on the day that counts.

“We want to approach the game businesslike. We want to go there and give a good performance. But we will have to be firing on all cylinders and stay focused. We have some plans we want to execute and if we go out and do it we can get a favourable result.

“They have a very attacking lineup. They will press and play from minute one to 90 and they do well in transition. So we expect a fierce game from them. They are home and have the 12th man. But we hope to stand up to that,” he said.

MoBay coach Rodolfo Zapata also anticipates a difficult game.

“It is going to be difficult because we play at home to Waterhouse. We want the supporters to fill the stadium to support our boys. They have been playing good football and they deserve the support. So we want Montego Bay supporters to fill the stadium on Wednesday,” he declared.

Chapelton favourites

Meanwhile, Chapelton, after their morale-boosting win over Waterhouse, will start favourites against a Dunbeholden team that have taken just two points from their last eight matches.

Chapelton are 10th in the table on 20 points, while Dunbeholden are second from bottom with 16.

The other game between Racing and Harbour View should be an interesting one.

Racing have taken seven points from their last three matches and are eighth in the table on 22 points.

However, they go up against a Harbour View team coming off their first win in 12 matches, a 4-1 result against Dunbeholden, and they have been boosted by the return of forwards Trayvone Reid and Colorado Murray, members of the title-winning team in 2022.

Harbour View sit just outside the relegation zone on goal difference over Dunbeholden.
