Central Kingston finally get a helping hand
SUPER LEAGUE outfit Central Kingston Football Club received a much-needed financial boost valued at $450,000 along with gear during a presentation ceremony at Winschester Park, St George’s College, yesterday.
The donation was made by a partnership between Rum Team Entertainment and Rhonnie Frass, with a representative of the former, Ava Oakley, saying the decision to support the club comes from her brother’s love of community.
“This was done because my brother, Mark Cook, who resides in Canada, likes to give back to the community. Also, Cook’s brother, Leon Small, is a former player of the team while Kenneth Ellis, who is his uncle, is a current player on the team. I believe this will help the team as he (Cook) is always there for them,” she said.
Michael Howell, head coach of Central Kingston Football Club, believes the support will be greatly appreciated.
“This will go a far way in helping Central Kingston Football Club as I believe that was a major problem with the team, especially with gears. So I believe that this is a start. In the just-ended season (Super League), we had problems with our gears as some of the numbers were ripping off, so this will definitely help,” said Howell.
President of the club, Keeble Allen, added: “It’s been a while that Central Kingston has seen something like this. We have played two seasons of football after the pandemic and we haven’t seen a sponsorship like this, so we are extremely grateful. This will ease some of the pressure as gears have been taken care of and players can get boots.”
