Reggae Girlz blast JFF
National senior women's team members, who are in their final phase of preparations for the Women's World Cup, have voiced their disappointment with the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) regarding the build-up to their second consecutive campaign.
In an open letter by the majority of the players posted on social media today, they highlighted concerns regarding non-payment of contracted compensation packages agreed to, as well as the disorganisation, which led to missing FIFA international windows.
The Reggae Girlz were supposed to play two friendly games later this month as part of their preparations for the World Cup. Those plans did not materialise because of logistical difficulties according to head coach Lorne Donaldson.
A meeting was held during the Girlz' last camp in England in April to address matters, with assurances that they would be dealt with. That camp had numerous issues ranging from visa problems to a scheduled friendly against Cameroon being cancelled.
The letter ended with the Girlz calling for "immediate and systematic change within the federation and those in charge of protecting the integrity of women's football".
Their last international game was against Sheffield United in April. Before then, they competed at the Cup of Nations tournament in Australia in February. The local camp is scheduled to end on Tuesday, with the final roster to be selected on June 26th.
