PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, USA:

Defending champions Edwin Allen will be the only Jamaican team in tomorrow’s final of the high school girls’ 4x800 metres Championship of America relay at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America, as two of the island’s top teams, Holmwood Technical and Alphansus Davis High, failed to progress from the heats today.

Holmwood, the 11-time champions, finished seventh in their heat in 9:30.66 minutes, which was 20th overall, while Alphansus Davis was sixth in their heat in 9:29.66.

Edwin Allen won their heat in 9:17.28 minutes to advance as the second-fastest qualifier.

Pre-race favourites and top-ranked Union Catholic of New Jersey won their heat in 9:11.26 seconds to be the fastest qualifier going into the final.
