Charlemont looking for improvement
After tasting title success last season, defending ISSA/WATA Ben Francis Cup champions Charlemont High School are looking to better last year’s performance when the ISSA/WATA DaCosta Cup gets under way today.
Kavi Meeks, who led the St Catherine-based institution to their first title last year, is focused on playing their best brand of football at the business end of the season this time around.
“Last year, based on the programme that we had, you saw the results,” Meeks said. “What I have done is to make some tweaks to it to ensure that our peak performances will not be happening in the summer, but at the business end of the season. Our recent win of the STETHS (St Elizabeth Technical High School) Cup is testament to the new plan.
“We are expecting great things this year. We are putting in the work because we want to ensure that at the end of the day, we have rewards to show for our work.”
“We have a nice squad. Some of our main players from last year were injured and weren’t able to participate in the STETHS Cup and we still managed to win, which only shows the depth of the squad.”
Charlemont will visit Enid Bennett High School for their opening game today at 3:30 p.m.
