Williams sisters to carry Jamaica's hopes in 100m hurdles final after drama-filled semis

In a drama-filled IAAF World Championship 100m hurdles semi-final heats, Jamaica's Williams sisters qualified for the final set for 8:35 am.

Danielle Williams ran a massive personal  best 12.58  to win her semi-final heat leaving in her wake American Sharika Nelvis who placed second.

The American favourite Dawn Harper-Nelson crashed into her second hurdle and never made it.

But Williams, the National Champion, held her composure after seeing Austria's  Beate Schrott false start and Harper-Nelson crashing out.

Her sister, Shermaine Williams’ time of 12.86 was  good enough for second and an automatic qualification  spot in the final. 

American Brianna Rollins won that semi-final with a time of 12.71.

That race too had drama as America's Kendra Harrison false-started.

Kimberly Laing, the third-place finisher at Jamaica's National Senior Trials, failed to make the final after finishing fifth in her semi-final heat behind Great Britain’s Tiffany Porter.

The Williams sisters will have two Americans and Britain’s Tiffany Porter to compete with for a spot on the medal podium.
