Tea and Tales with the WLI
The Women's Leadership Initiative (WLI), hosted over 50 women last Sunday evening, to sip tea while enjoying readings from Jamaican poet laureate Lorna Goodison at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston.
Through their mission in the areas of education, health, mentorship and the development of women, the WLI created an evening of laughter and friendship dubbed Tea and Tales to raise funds for children suffering from kidney disease.
Indulging in a wide array of delicious dishes, the women were entertained by the musical stylings of Della Manley and Wayne McGregory, before Goodison shared poetry from her latest anthology, From Harvey River.
After her first set of reading, the women were well in tuned and wanted to hear more from the poet. A gracious Goodison accommodated the encore. As the evening came to a close, all in attendance agreed that it was one well spent.
