Big ship sails in!
The world's largest ship, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line's Oasis of the Seas coloured the pages of Falmouth's notebook on Tuesday, taking its rightful place in the historically rich, 18th-century-built, commercial capital.
No longer, can the treasure chest of Trelawny stake claim to the words 'sleepy fishing village', said Falmouth's mayor Colin Gager.
It was obvious that the town had awakened to the roar of the lion, but this time it was the Americans on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, not the British colonisers who were about to make an impact.
The fanfare, the kaleidoscope of colours, and the vibrancy of the Jamaican culture, all spoke volumes, proving that the Port Authority's William Tatham was right in saying, "There is no other port in the world like this".
And Tatham, the world traveller who scouts port developments worldwide should know.
