Body believed to be that of missing Clarendon policeman found

Forty-two-year-old Sylvester Reid of Evans’s Heights, May Pen, Clarendon.

A body believed to be that of missing Clarendon policeman, Detective Corporal Sylvester Reid was discovered by police in York Town in the parish last night.

Reid has been missing since April 14, and was last seen at his home in Evans Heights, May Pen, Clarendon.

Police reports are that about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, a team of police acting on information received from a suspect in the cop’s disappearance, led them to a foot track along the Parnassus main road in York Town where a body was seen in bushes off a dirt track.

The body was pointed out to the police by the suspect, who informed the police that the body was Reid's with whom he resides at Evans Heights.

The body was seen clad in yellow shorts in a state of decomposition with what appeared to be burn marks on the upper body and was without shoes.

The body was subsequently removed by morgue attendants to the May Pen Hospital where death was confirmed.

The suspect was taken back to the May Pen Police Station where he was placed in custody pending further investigation.
