A man accused of defrauding his ex-girlfriend of more than $3 million in a car deal was granted $400,000 bail in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday.

The accused, Tevin Thomas, is answering to a charge of fraudulent conversion.

His attorney, Odane Marston, told the court on Friday that it was an informal incident and that his client intends to make restitution to the complainant.

Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle granted bail on condition that Thomas surrenders his travel documents and reappears in court on April 21.

It is alleged that in August 2025, the complainant gave Thomas two motor cars valued at $3.1 million to be sold and for him to purchase a Honda Accord with the proceeds. However, Thomas sold the vehicles and failed to account for the money or to hand over a new car.

The complainant reportedly made numerous failed attempts to get back her money.

The matter was reported to the police and Thomas was arrested and charged with fraud.
