Police warn public after two foreigners allegedly robbed while 'sightseeing' in Golden Acres, St Andrew
The St Andrew North police are urging caution after two foreign nationals were allegedly robbed of gadgets and other items while visiting an area commonly known as the 'lookout' in Golden Acres in Red Hills.
It's reported that about 12:06 a.m. on Wednesday, the victims were sightseeing, taking photos, and recording videos when a silver Toyota Axio arrived.
Two men, allegedly armed with a gun, exited the vehicle, approached the visitors, and demanded their belongings. Fearing for their lives, the complainants complied. The assailants then returned to the vehicle and fled the scene, reports say.
The stolen items include an orange iPhone 17 Pro (J$180,000), a black Michael Kors handbag (US$800 / J$125,528), a white gold watch (US$120 / J$18,829), black headphones (US$60 / J$9,415), and an iPhone 12 Pro Max (J$120,000).
The victims were also relieved of a United States driver’s license, a Santander debit card, and two shuttle tickets.
The Constant Spring Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) is investigating this and other recent incidents in the area.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police at 876-924-1421 or 119.
