Suspected drowning of 6-y-o boy at river in St Catherine

The Central Village police in St Catherine are probing the suspected drowning of a six-year-old boy at the Caymanas Mineral Spa on Tuesday.

He has been identified as Josia Lewis of Tivoli Gardens in Kingston.

Lewis was a student at Alpha Primary School.

The police report that about 3:30 p.m., Lewis was at the popular location and was swimming when he got into difficulties and is suspected to have drowned.

The police were summoned and he was taken to the Spanish Town General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The body was then transferred to a funeral home for a post-mortem.
