A 20-year-old trader of Penn Avenue in St Andrew has been charged with murder following the stabbing death of a man in his community on Monday.

The accused, Adonii Hayles, otherwise called 'Bobo,' was charged after the death of 35-year-old mason Richard Walker, also known as 'Richie'.

According to reports from the Hunts Bay Police, the incident occurred about 8:20 p.m. when an argument between Hayles and Walker reportedly escalated into a physical fight.

The altercation was later broken up by a family member of Hayles.

Police further reported that Hayles subsequently left the area but later returned armed with a knife. The weapon was allegedly used to inflict several stab wounds to Walker’s body.

After the stabbing, Walker was assisted to hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

Investigators said Hayles later turned himself in to the police in the company of a family member on the same day.

He was formally charged with murder on Tuesday.
