CASE reinforces security protocols following alleged rape of student
The College of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE) in Portland says it has reinforced security protocols at the institution arising from the alleged rape of a female student on the campus on Sunday.
Among other things, the college says it has increased patrols in identified areas and has reminded students of established safety guidelines, including the importance of moving in groups where possible and reporting any suspicious activity to Campus Security.
It says it is taking the matter extremely seriously, adding that the college maintains a zero-tolerance stance on sexual violence and all forms of misconduct.
CASES says its foremost concern is the well-being of the student involved, and that it has been providing support through the appropriate channels since the report was received.
“Upon receiving the report, the college immediately activated its internal response procedures, including engagement with law enforcement authorities and campus security. CASE is cooperating fully with the ongoing police investigation and will continue to do so,” the institution said in a statement on Monday.
“In keeping with legal and ethical standards, the College will not comment on specific details while investigations are ongoing,” it stated.
CASES says the safety and security of the campus community remain a priority.
“Any act that threatens the safety, dignity, or well-being of members of our community is wholly unacceptable and will be addressed in accordance with the law and institutional policy.
“The college encourages any individual who may have information related to this incident to come forward through the appropriate channels. CASE remains committed to fostering a campus environment that is safe, supportive, and respectful.”
