Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is advising the public that the technical issues affecting the processing of same-day driver's licence continue to persist.

The TAJ says the disruption follows a recent scheduled maintenance activity that has impacted all tax offices, affecting driver’s licences, both new and renewals.

All other services, including the payment of taxes and other related motor vehicle transactions, remain available.

The tax authority is advising motorists that they must submit a completed driver’s licence application and an uncertified passport-size photograph, along with their receipt of payment, whether done in one of the tax offices or online, in order to facilitate the processing of the driver’s Licence.

It says during this period of service disruption, motorists are permitted to operate a motor vehicle, using the receipt and the expired driver’s licence for up to 60 days.

TAJ says it will notify customers when their printed driver's licence is ready to be collected.

TAJ says a dedicated team is actively working to have the matter resolved and to restore full service in the shortest possible time.
