Ariel Bowen appointed Jamaica's interim Consul General to New York
Ariel Bowen has been appointed Jamaica's interim Consul General to New York.
Although no official announcement has been made on her appointment by the Jamaican Government, The Gleaner understands that she has already taken up her position at the Consulate offices in New York.
Bowen has held several positions in the Jamaican foreign service and, prior to her appointment, was under-secretary in the Ministry of Foreign affairs and Foreign Trade.
She is no stranger to the Jamaican Diaspora having served in the Jamaican Embassy in Washington DC and the Jamaican Consulate in New York.
She was also head of the Diaspora Unit in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Her appointment follows the death of Consul General Alsion Roach on November 8 following a battle with breast cancer.
