Four individuals have been charged in connection with the theft of 18 bags of meat from a restaurant on Lakes Pen Road, Portmore, St Catherine between October 20 and November 16.

Charged with larceny as a servant, simple larceny and conspiracy are 50-year-old Douglas Wallace otherwise called ‘Walla’, butcher of Emerson Avenue, Kingston 20; 66-year-old Delroy Salmon, car wash attendant of Baldwin Crescent, Duhaney Park, Kingston 20; 69-year-old Clinton Barnes, otherwise called ‘Sam’, a retiree of Emerson Avenue, Kingston 20; and 34-year-old Shawna-Kay Cross, otherwise called ‘Wingie’, sales representative of Brook Avenue, Duhaney Park, Kingston 20.

Reports are that following suspicions regarding irregularities at the establishment, surveillance footage was reviewed and Wallace was observed removing items from the business without permission.

On Sunday, November 16, Wallace was reportedly again seen removing several bags of meat from the premises and loading them into a white Toyota Probox, with assistance from Salmon, Barnes and Cross.

The police were alerted and they say the vehicle was intercepted with all four accused aboard.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and the meat, valued at $251,996, was found in the trunk.

Following a caution statement from Wallace, all four were arrested and subsequently charged.

Their court date is being finalised.
