Containers with compromised food tampered with or go missing in St James, Health Ministry warns public
The public is being advised that four containers that were being stored at Porto Bello in Montego Bay, St James, which were found with compromised foods, have been discovered to be tampered with and/or gone missing from the compound.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness says the information was shared by the Food Storage & Prevention of Infestation Division of the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce.
The Ministry says the containers were previously seized by the division and contained items including rice, flour, red kidney peas, and cornmeal — all of which are not fit for human consumption.
As a result, it is cautioning the public, especially residents in Montego Bay and surrounding communities in St James, against purchasing and/or consuming food items from illegitimate sources.
