Operations at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay remain normal, but several flights have been cancelled or adjusted as Hurricane Melissa nears Jamaica, the operators say.

In a 10 a.m. advisory on Saturday, MBJ Airports Limited said the adjustments follow the Hurricane Warning now in effect for the island.

Among the changes, Air Canada has added two extra flights between Toronto and Montego Bay today - F7050 and F7052 - while Air Transat has scheduled an additional section, TS9487, from Montego Bay to Toronto.

American Airlines has also increased capacity on two Miami-bound flights, AA2702 and AA2963, for Saturday.

However, a number of cancellations have been confirmed.

Air Canada has cancelled flights AC982/3 for Saturday through Tuesday, as well as AC988/9 and AC920/1 on Sunday and Monday.

Caribbean Airlines has cancelled its Fort Lauderdale service, BW032/033, for both Saturday and Sunday.

JetBlue has cancelled multiple flights to and from Montego Bay between Sunday and Tuesday, affecting routes connecting with New York , Fort Lauderdale, and Orlando.

Southwest Airlines has also cancelled several flights between Montego Bay and United States cities including Baltimore and Orlando on Sunday and Monday.

Passengers are being urged to contact their airlines directly for rebooking or updates. Airline contact details are available at www.mbjairport.com.

MBJ Airports Limited says updates will be shared through the airport’s website and social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.

Earlier on Saturday, Transport Minister Daryl Vaz said a decision when to close the airport will be made at a meeting later this afternoon. The Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston is scheduled to close this evening after the final arrival flight, which is expected at 8 p.m.
