A Spanish Town, St Catherine man accused of selling a vehicle that he rented was remanded in the parish court on Friday and was ordered to return on October 28.

Marlon Chang, 45, is charged with larceny.

Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle ordered a social enquiry report.

Also, the court allowed the release of the car on a bond of $1.6 million to the owner, who was informed that the vehicle should not be sold or altered during the course of the case.

Reports are that in June Chang rented a Toyota Aqua motor car valued at $2.3 million from a woman.

He allegedly later sold the vehicle for $1.1 million to a man in Clarendon, but failed to produce a title for the car.

Having waited for the title without success, the buyer then contacted an insurance company and the real owner was located.

The police were contacted and an investigation launched into the matter.

Chang was held on September 24 along Old Harbour Road in St Catherine and was subsequently charged with larceny of motor vehicle.
