Detectives assigned to the St Catherine North police division have charged a 45-year-old man with larceny after he allegedly sold a motor vehicle which had been rented to him.

He is Marlon Chang, unemployed, of Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Reports are that Chang rented a Toyota Aqua motor car valued at $2.3 million from a woman.

He allegedly later sold the vehicle for $1.1 million to a man in Clarendon, but failed to produce a title for the motor car.

Having waited for the title without success, the buyer then contacted an insurance company and the real owner was located.

The police were contacted and an investigation launched into the matter.

Chang was held last Wednesday along Old Harbour Road in St Catherine and was subsequently charged with larceny of motor vehicle.

He is scheduled to appear in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday.
