A 45-year-old windshield wiper accused of stealing $230,000 from a woman’s parked car along Waltham Park Road in St Andrew has been charged with simple larceny after allegedly confessing to the crime.

The police say Conroy Grant, otherwise called 'Snack', of Delacree Lane, Kingston 11, allegedly removed the cash from the woman’s bag on August 25.

Reports from the Hunts Bay Police are that at about 6:45 a.m., the woman parked her motor vehicle at a business establishment, leaving her bag inside. When she returned, she discovered the money missing.

A review of surveillance footage confirmed that Grant had taken the money, the police allege.

A report was subsequently made, and Grant was taken into custody following an investigation.

Police say he later confessed to the act, and a caution statement was recorded in the presence of his attorney.

Grant, who has since been charged, is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on October 14.
